Measure the WIDTH of your opening ↔
Measure the width of your window or bay window from edge to edge (the opening, not the curtain rod).
For optimal efficiency, multiply this measurement by 1.5× to 2×.
The waves created by this extra width are not just aesthetic:
they form air pockets that significantly increase the sound and thermal performance of your curtain.
Example: 120 cm opening → 180 to 240 cm wide curtain.
Recommended minimum: 1.5× for performance. Ideal: 2× for perfect drape + maximum insulation.

Measure the HEIGHT ↕
Measure from the top of your curtain rod (or the bottom of the rings) to the desired bottom point: floor, windowsill, or mid-calf.
For the floor: subtract 1 cm so the curtain doesn't drag.
For maximum blackout: extend to the floor; every centimeter of gap lets in light and drafts.

Check your measurements ✓
Write down your measurements in centimeters. If in doubt, round up to the nearest centimeter; it's better to have 1 cm too much than 1 cm too little.
