Blue Curtains

Kurtens blue curtains come in 4 shades (sky blue, navy blue, pastel blue and petrol blue) across our three ranges: heather blackout, blackout thermal & acoustic, and linen-look sheer. Each range has its purpose, from full blackout to a softly filtered linen veil: you choose according to the room. Everything comes in standard sizes or made to measure, with eyelet, pencil-pleat, rod-pocket or multifunction heading. Blue calms a room: light tones enlarge it, navy and petrol give it structure.

Our three ranges of blue curtains

Blue is also chosen by function. At Kurtens it comes in three ranges, each with a precise role:

  • Heather blackout: a dense fabric with a heather look that blocks the light, ideal for a bedroom.
  • Blackout thermal & acoustic: the most complete model, which blacks out, insulates from cold and heat and reduces noise.
  • Linen-look sheer: a veil that filters the light without stopping it, to keep privacy during the day.

Which shade of blue to choose

From light blue to deep blue, each shade creates a different mood.

  • Sky blue: soft and bright, it enlarges a room, in heather blackout and linen-look sheer.
  • Pastel blue: delicate, perfect for a soothing bedroom, in blackout thermal & acoustic.
  • Navy blue: deep and elegant, it structures a living room, in blackout thermal & acoustic.
  • Petrol blue: rich and contemporary, close to teal, in blackout thermal & acoustic.
How to pair a blue curtain

The most popular pairings work very well: a blue and grey or blue and white scheme fits almost any interior. Blue also pairs with light wood and touches of brass.

Navy and petrol blue structure a living room against a light wall. Light blues enlarge a bedroom or a dim room. Our colour guide details each pairing.

Teal, navy or petrol blue: the differences

Deep blues look alike but differ in undertone. Navy blue leans towards midnight blue, understated and dressy. Petrol blue blends blue and green, warmer and contemporary, very close to teal. Royal blue stays vivid and bright. At Kurtens, petrol blue is the shade closest to teal, and navy covers the deep, night-time moods.

Standard sizes or made to measure

Blue curtains are available in standard sizes or made to measure, in width and height. To dress a large window, a double blue curtain is often used, two panels meeting in the centre. Choose the heading to suit your rail, detailed in our heading guide: eyelets, pencil pleat, rod pocket or multifunction.

For dimensions, our measuring guide explains how to take measurements. Delivery is free and the Exact-Fit guarantee remakes the curtain in case of a measuring error.

Frequently asked questions

How many shades of blue does Kurtens offer?

Blue comes in four shades: sky blue, pastel blue, navy blue and petrol blue. Sky blue comes in heather blackout and linen-look sheer, the deeper blues in blackout thermal & acoustic.

Is the blue curtain blackout?

Yes. Blue comes in a blackout version, heather or thermal & acoustic, which blocks the light, and in a linen-look sheer version that filters it. You choose according to the room.

What is the difference between navy, petrol and teal blue?

Navy blue is a deep blue close to midnight. Petrol blue blends blue and green, warmer, very close to teal. At Kurtens, petrol blue is the shade closest to teal.

Which blue for a bedroom?

For a bedroom, a light blue such as sky blue soothes and enlarges the room. In the blackout version it keeps the darkness for sleep. A navy blue creates a more enveloping mood.

How to pair a blue curtain?

Blue pairs with grey, white and light wood, with touches of brass. Deep blues stand out against a light wall. On a single window, keep just one strong colour.

Is the blue curtain available made to measure?

Yes, in standard sizes or made to measure, in width and height, with the heading of your choice: eyelets, pencil pleat, rod pocket or multifunction.
