Measurements, fixings, colors. Our guides walk you through choosing your Kurtens curtain step by step, in a standard size or made-to-measure, with complete confidence.
Before you begin.
You'll need a tape measure (or a soft measuring tape) and something to write with. Allow 5 minutes per window. If you have several identical windows, one measurement is enough.
1. Measure the width of your curtain rod
Run your tape measure from one end of the rod to the other, not the window, not the wall: the rod itself. Note this measurement in centimetres.
-
For the best results, multiply your dimensions by 1.5 to 2. This creates the folds that improve the curtain's performance.
Recommended margin
Add 30 to 40 cm to your measurement (15 to 20 cm on each side). So the curtain extends past the window and effectively blocks noise, light and cold. Without this margin, performance drops.
2. Measure the height
Measure from the rod ring (or from the hook, depending on your fixing type) down to the floor. This is the drop height of your curtain.
Recommended margin
Add a few centimetres to the height for an elegant drop at the floor. A curtain that is too short loses both its looks AND its insulating performance: air (and noise) slip in underneath.
3. Use your dimensions to order
