Made-to-Measure Soundproof Curtain - Noise Reduction & Exact Dimensions.
A curtain designed to limit sound transmission can help attenuate noise passing through the covered opening. Kurtens states up to 22 dB under optimal installation and test conditions. Results in your home depend on frequencies, coverage and installation.
Available in 14 colors.
22 dB of attenuation: what it means in practice.
A curtain in front of a window can help attenuate airborne noise passing through that opening: voices, traffic or construction work. It does not address transmission through walls, floors and the building structure. Results depend on the noise and installation; 22 dB alone cannot predict the final sound level of a construction site.
How should you compare stated performance?
Compare fabric construction and acoustic results together with their measurement conditions. Fabric weight alone does not give attenuation in dB. Kurtens fabric has 3 layers and weighs 620 g/m²; its stated attenuation is up to 22 dB under optimal installation and test conditions.
At Kurtens, our standard sizes are calculated to cover the most common window configurations with the recommended overhangs. For other openings, the made-to-measure option lets you enter your exact dimensions with a side overhang on each side, a floor drop of 2 to 3 cm and a height adjusted from floor to ceiling or window to ceiling. Coverage and installation contribute to the result; they do not guarantee 22 dB across the entire surface.
Absorption reduces sound reflections and reverberation within a room. Sound insulation aims to limit noise transmission between spaces. An attenuation value depends on frequencies and measurement conditions; the stated 22 dB is not a guaranteed reduction of every noise in your home.

*Stated attenuation under optimal installation and test conditions. Results depend on the noise, coverage and installation; they are not guaranteed in every home.
| Criterion | What to check |
|---|---|
| Need | Outside noise or reverberation inside the room |
| Fabric | Composition and construction; weight alone does not give the dB rating |
| Acoustic measurement | Protocol, frequencies and setup when comparing results |

Frequently asked questions.
Do soundproof curtains really work?
A curtain designed to limit sound transmission can help attenuate noise passing through the covered opening. Kurtens states up to 22 dB under optimal installation and test conditions. Results in your home depend on frequencies, coverage and installation.
What is the difference between an anti-noise curtain and a soundproof curtain?
Both terms describe the same use: reducing noise coming in through windows and doors. The term soundproof is more technical, anti-noise more common. Our curtains combine both features.
Is a made-to-measure soundproof curtain more effective than a standard curtain?
Check acoustic results and measurement conditions, fabric construction, coverage and mounting. A standard size can work if it properly covers the opening; made-to-measure dimensions help when the available sizes do not fit.
How long does it take to receive my made-to-measure soundproof curtain?
Each made-to-measure curtain is made to order in our workshop. Manufacturing takes 5 to 7 business days and delivery takes 5 to 10 business days.
Can a curtain be both soundproof and blackout?
Yes, our range combines all three performances: total blackout, thermal insulation and noise reduction.
What colors is the soundproof curtain available in?
The range is available in 14 colors. All colors are available in every made-to-measure dimension with our different heading types.
How can you reduce noise in an apartment without renovation work?
A suitable curtain and window seals in good condition can complement each other. First check where the noise travels. A curtain does not replace treatment of other transmission paths; results depend on the window and installation.
Check the seals and window coverage, then choose mounting suitable for the curtain’s weight. An existing pole can only be reused if its supports and load capacity are suitable; installation without drilling is not guaranteed.
Can a soundproof curtain be combined with other insulation solutions?
A suitable curtain and window seals in good condition can complement each other. First check where the noise travels. A curtain does not replace treatment of other transmission paths; results depend on the window and installation.
The Kurtens soundproof curtain uses the same fabric as the 3-in-1: 3 layers, 620 g/m², 100 % blackout and a thermal gain of up to 7 °C measured in a laboratory. These features do not automatically apply to every thick curtain.
