Thermal curtains: what the reviews really say
Most reviews of thermal curtains are written in the days following delivery, so before the first real cold. They prove the quality of the making and the accuracy of the dimensions, almost never the thermal performance.
To judge insulation you need either a review written after a full winter, or a measurable figure: the weight of the fabric and the number of layers say more than ten enthusiastic comments.
What a review proves, and what it does not
Our five most recent customer reviews were posted on 17 July, 24 July, 5 August, 6 August and 21 August. None was written in winter. That is the rule, not the exception: a customer rates a purchase when they have just received it, at the moment they can judge the stitching, the colour and the dimensions, and not yet the warmth of the room in January.
A review remains valuable information, but you need to know what it covers.

Standard NF ISO 20488, which governs the collection and publication of online consumer reviews, requires traceability of the consumption experience behind every review. It guarantees that a review corresponds to a real purchase. It does not guarantee that its author is able to judge what you are trying to find out.
Our five most recent reviews, unfiltered
Three of the five talk about noise, only one about thermal insulation, and one mentions a long delivery time. Here they are exactly as they were posted.

What these reviews really say about thermal performance
Only one of the five touches on insulation, and it comes from a customer comparing two homes. That is few, and it is logical: nobody buys a curtain in July to measure its warmth in July. Three reviews out of five, on the other hand, talk about noise, and one of them is the most interesting of the set because its author describes himself as “sceptical at first”.
This is no accident. With us, the thermal curtain and the acoustic curtain are the same product: the same 620 g/m² fabric in three layers dampens cold and noise, because the same mass does both. A customer can therefore judge the acoustic effect on the very same day, while they will have to wait until December to judge the thermal one. The criticism that keeps coming back
The lead time. Simon states it plainly, and he is not the only one who has told us. Every curtain is cut and made up to the ordered dimensions after payment, which mechanically lengthens the wait compared with a standard curtain taken off the shelf. That is the price of made to measure, and we would rather announce it than let a customer discover it.
A review that mentions no drawback is no more reliable than any other. On a review page, the middling and negative comments are often the most informative, because they describe a precise gap between what was expected and what happened.
What a figure says better than a review
Fabric weight can be read before buying, it depends on no opinion, and it predicts fairly well what the reviews will say six months later.

How to read a review page in five minutes
Five reflexes are enough to sort the wheat from the chaff, and almost nobody applies the first one.

Frequently asked questions
Are reviews of thermal curtains reliable?
They are reliable on what they can observe: dimensions, making, colour, lead time, service. They are far less so on insulation, because most are written in summer, a few days after delivery, so before the first cold.
How many reviews should you read before buying?
Fewer than you think, provided you choose them well. Two reviews dated from winter and one middling or negative review teach you more than thirty five-star comments written in July.
How can you tell whether a review is genuine?
Look for the verified purchase note and for the platform hosting it. Standard NF ISO 20488 requires platforms that comply with it to link every review to a real consumption experience. A review published directly by the seller on their own site, with no traceability, offers no such guarantee.
Does a review about noise say anything about cold?
Yes, indirectly, when the curtain is multilayer. It is the same mass of fabric that slows sound and heat. A customer who notes a clear drop in noise is describing a dense curtain, so a curtain that will also work in winter.
Why do so few reviews mention heating savings?
Because no customer can isolate the effect of the curtain from everything else: the weather that year, the thermostat setting, the price of energy. A review announcing a precise percentage of savings is describing an impression, not a measurement.
