How to choose your size
Two measurements are all you need: the width of the opening and the height. Standard sizes or made to measure, down to the centimetre.
The width of the opening
Measure your window from edge to edge. Fit the rod 15 cm above and extend it 15 to 20 cm on each side: the window looks larger and the light is freed up. Order a curtain width of 2 to 2.5 times the width of the window: the full folds dress the room and trap air, which strengthens both sound and thermal insulation.
The height
Measure from the top of the rod down to the floor. The curtains should just brush the floor, or fall 1 to 2 cm onto it for a softer, gentle break. Avoid letting them stop above the floor: the room looks smaller and draughts get through.

Can you see through it?
During the day, no. The light is diffused, like behind frosted glass. In the evening, with the light on, silhouettes can be made out: layer it with a blackout curtain for total privacy.

Yes. This light-filtering curtain is a semi-blackout: it blocks around 70% of the light. "Light-filtering" is simply the everyday term.
Light-filtering or blackout curtain?
The light-filtering one keeps daylight and privacy, in a living space. The blackout makes the room completely dark, in a bedroom. The two can be layered.
Does it darken the room?
No, it lets around 30% of the light through and filters without plunging the room into darkness.
