Why it works. Each curtain weighs 620 g/m², spread across three dense layers. In acoustics, mass is what stops sound. Made to your exact dimensions, it covers the whole window: sound no longer escapes around the sides or under the bottom. A curtain that is too small lets up to 40 % of the attenuation slip away.
How to choose your size
Two measurements are all you need: the width of your rod and the height. Standard sizes or made to measure, to the dimensions you enter.
The width of your rod
Measure your rod from end cap to end cap. Without a rod, allow the window width plus 30 cm (12 in), 15 cm (6 in) on each side. Fit the rod 15 cm (6 in) above the window. Order a total width of 2 to 2.5 times the rod: the full folds trap air and strengthen insulation. For two panels, divide by two. Enter the flat width of each panel: the configurator applies no coefficient.
The height
Measure from the top of the rod down to the floor. The curtains should just brush the floor, or fall 1 to 2 cm (⅜ to ¾ in) onto it for a softer, gentle break. Avoid letting them stop above the floor: the room looks smaller and draughts get through.

Does it really work against noise?
Does your living room face a busy street? Traffic and conversations beneath your windows can interrupt your downtime. Placed in front of the window, a Kurtens soundproof curtain adds a textile barrier that helps reduce these outdoor noises. Does it block bass, trucks, the neighbours upstairs?
No, and no textile does. Low frequencies and vibrations (subwoofers, engines, impact noise) travel through structures: only the mass of a wall stops them. The curtain works on mid-to-high airborne noise, not on vibrations.
Doesn't sound get in around the sides?
If the installation leaves gaps, yes. To seal the window: extend 15 cm beyond each side, mount the rail as close to the ceiling as possible and let the fabric graze the floor. Sound seeps in like air.
Will my rod hold this curtain?
The curtain is dense (620 g/m²): a panel weighs several kilos depending on size. Go for a sturdy rod or a rail firmly fixed into a load-bearing support. Tension rods won't hold the weight over time.

Sound travels through what is light. This curtain weighs 620 g/m² and stacks three dense layers that absorb and break up part of the sound waves. Fitted to your window to the centimetre, it also closes the gaps at the sides and at the top.

Why does made-to-measure matter so much?
Sound gets through the gaps. A curtain fitted to the centimetre covers the whole opening and closes those gaps.
Which rod for a 620 g/m² curtain?
A wall-mounted rod. Telescopic rods aren't made for this weight on large windows.
At the centre of the curtain, a blackout membrane stops light across the entire surface of the fabric. The light doesn't get through: it goes back towards the window, and the room stays dark, even in broad daylight.
Is the darkness complete?
Through the fabric, yes: the membrane blocks light across the entire surface. Any remaining daylight comes in around the edges; a curtain made to your dimensions, hung as close to the window as possible, reduces it.
Can you see the lining from the room?
No. From the room, you see the decorative face, in your colour. The quilted lining stays on the window side.
On the window side, the quilted lining faces the glass. It holds back what comes from outside, heat in summer and cold in winter, and keeps the cool air from the air conditioning or the warmth from the heating in the room for longer.
